Nguyen Van Chuyen and his family contacted the Hanoi office of St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. With all his medical reports, he consulted cancer expert Dr. Wang Zenghai through remote consultation. Initially, the doctor measured a treatment plan combining interventional therapy and cryotherapy based on his condition.
In Aug. 25th, 2018, Nguyen Van Chuyen arrived at St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. Upon the admission, Dr. Wang Zenghai, as his in-charge doctor, arranged a serious of checkups including CT scans, biopsy and EGFR mutation testing. The result indicated his case-stage IIIA lung cancer. There was a tumor measuring 3.8×3.3×4.6cm in his left lower lobe with multiple metastases to the mediastinum. The value of tumor marker CEA increased to 12.49ng/ml.
After the treatment, the lung tumor has necrotized by 90%
The MDT(Multidisciplinary Team) conducted a discussion on his case and came up with a comprehensive treatment plan including interventional therapy and natural therapy. Nguyen Van Chuyen underwent two sessions of interventional therapy, which is a kind of highly targeted minimally invasive therapy. During the procedure, microcatheter is implanted into the feeding artery of the tumor, through which high-concentration anticancer drugs are injected directly to kill the tumor.
Recalling the first session of interventional therapy, Nguyen Van Chuyen said, “during the whole process of interventional therapy, I didn’t feel pain. With no surgery or side effect, I could get off bed one day after. “On the third admission, the result of CT scans indicated the metastasis in mediastinum has disappeared, additionally, the tumor in left lung measuring 3.8×3.3×4.6cm has necrotized by 90%. The value of tumor marker CEA has decreased to 1.39." Seeing the result, Nguyen Van Chuyen and his family expressed heartfelt gratitude to St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou for offering advanced treatment and professional medical team.

In early March, 2019, Nguyen Van Chuyen came for his fourth session of treatment. The doctor adopted a treatment plan combining interventional therapy and natural therapy to strengthen the efficacy and enhance immunity.
“It is just like home taking treatment here. There’re a lot of cancer patients from Vietnam and we have much in common. Usually, we chat at evening to relax. Every patient is equally treated and considerately taken care of. During my stay, I felt comfortable thanks to the advanced treatment. I feel content and grateful for the result. Meanwhile, I wish all cancer patients can get access to timely treatment. ” said Nguyen Van Chuyen during the interview.
*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
