Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Caring for Breast Health-October-Breast Cancer Awareness Program Officially Launched

October is International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer seriously harms women's physical and mental health. With the continuous advancements of cancer treatment technologies, especially the rapid development and application of minimally invasive technologies in the field of cancer treatment, such as Combined knife, microwave ablation, etc., there are more and newer options for breast cancer treatment in addition to mastectomy.

The breast cancer caring activity jointly supported by St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou and Boai medical group will officially launched on October 1 and will end on October 31. This activity aims to make more people pay attention to breast health, help more breast cancer patients, and encourage cancer patients and their families to strengthen their confidence in fighting cancer. Breast cancer patients who come to our hospital for treatment during October will be provided with the following medical assistance.

1. First of all, certain technical assistance will be provided to breast cancer patients who come to our hospital for treatment for the first time during October.

(Combined Knife)

Traditional surgical treatment involves direct removal of the breast lesion, which not only causes significant trauma but also increases the risk of post-operative infection and recurrence. In contrast, the Combined Knife only requires a 2mm incision when treating breast cancer. Under the guidance of imaging equipment such as DSA, a 2mm hot and cold ablation needle is accurately punctured into the target tumor site, and the tumor is avascular necrosis through alternating hot and cold ablation methods.

(Microwave Ablation)

Traditional surgical treatment involves direct removal of breast lesions, which not only takes long time, but also causes significant discomfort for the patient. It is usually unsuitable for breast cancer patients who are physically weak, elderly, or have multiple metastases and are unable to undergo surgery. Microwave ablation, on the other hand, uses a "needle" with a diameter of no more than 2 mm to accurately introduce microwave energy into the tumor under the guidance of imaging equipment such as DSA. The operation time is short, greatly reducing the risks during surgery. It has a good therapeutic effect on patients who are unable to undergo surgical resection or are physically weak.

2. Secondly, family members of cancer patients who come to our hospital for treatment for the first time in October can receive a free breast cancer screening package.

It is recommended that women actively and regularly undergo breast screening, including breast B-ultrasound, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and adhere to the principle of "early prevention, early detection, and early treatment" to make breast cancer preventable and treatable.

*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
