Director Dai Wenyan stated that around 20% of the population may have thyroid nodules, equating to approximately 20 out of every 100 individuals, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:3. Most of these nodules are benign and are typically monitored without immediate intervention. While conventional treatment is surgery, this can cause decreased thyroid function. However, our center utilizes thyroid ablation, a minimally invasive technique using a needle. This method inactivates and removes nodules through a needle-sized wound which is advantageous and preserves functionality. The establishment of the Diagnosis and Therapy Center of Thyroid Nodules aims not only to cater to patient needs but also to enhance the precision, scalability, and standardization of nodule treatment and management, ultimately raising clinical efficacy and service quality and forming the brand effect of specialized disease diagnosis and therapy center.

In May 2023, the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine issued a notice on the Comprehensive Improvement of Medical Quality Action (2023-2025). This initiative calls for medical facilities to reinforce the "Patient-centred disease as a chain" approach, transcend traditional boundaries of subject division and major setting, and develop specialized disease centers through multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration to offer patients comprehensive care under one roof and explore the construction of specialized disease centers.

Over the years, St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou has been practicing MDT collaboration and setting up "specialized disease centers" for different diseases, establishing the Breast Cancer Clinical Prevention and Treatment Center in 2016 and the Lung Tumor Ward in 2019. Today, the establishment of the Diagnosis and Therapy Center of Thyroid Nodules not only responds to the national medical development plan but also marks a new milestone in the development of the hospital.

Next, St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou will continue to integrate and optimize relevant medical resources, deepen the development of subspecialties, promote the high-quality development of advantageous disciplines, refine management, and build more specialized centers for specialized diseases and treatments, to accurately serve more patients with superb technology and high-quality services, and help the hospital to develop in a high-quality manner.

*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
