On Aug. 30, the inaugural meeting of the Society of Breast Cancer Management of GuangDong Medical Industry Association was successfully held in Guangzhou. The meeting was hosted by GuangDong Medical Industry Association and co-organized by SUN YAT-SEN Memorial Hospita. About 200 experts and professors who are respectively from all round the country attended the meeting, including Chairman Wu Tianhan from GuangDong Medical Industry Association, Prof. Su Fengxi and Prof. Li Rongshun from SUN YAT-SEN Memorial Hospital, Prof. Wang Xianming from Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital, Prof. Lv Weiming from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and etc.. St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou was also invited to attend the meeting

The foundation of the Society of Breast Cancer Management promotes the Specialty Development of Breast Cancer

Focusing on the new technology for breast cancer, all the participants had a deep discussion on the meeting, Prof. Zhao Jianli and Prof. Chen Kai from SUN YAT-SEN Memorial Hospital, Prof. Hu Hong from Shenzhen People’s Hospital, Prof. Zhang Yuanqi from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University, made masterly speeches. The committee election of the Society of Breast Cancer Management was conducted on the meeting, including the chairman, vice-chairman, standing committee members and committee members. The launch ceremony was held successfully witnessed by nearly 200 experts and delegates.

Prof. Su Fengxi, who is one of the sponsors and also the chairman of the society said: “The medical technology for breast cancer now has reached a high level after 20-year continuous development. In the next 20 years, we should focus on the supplementary treatment and the integrated treatment model of traditional treatment and supplementary treatment. Integrative medicine is the destination and key point of the future development. We hope that the foundation of the society will gather talents to promote the specialty development of breast cancer, and ultimately build up a bright future for breast cancer treatment and management.”

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in women all around the world. In China, the morbidity of breast cancer ranks the first among all the common malignant tumors in women, and it grows rapidly. MCHG has been laying great emphasis on cancer treatment over the years. To offer patients better cancer treatment, MCHG not only keeps introducing international advanced medical technologies but also devotes itself to the development and application of new anti-cancer technologies. On April 2016, the Breast Cancer Center was founded in MCHG, which combines qualified professionals with advanced equipment, offering breast cancer patients specialized and accurate treatment.

Doctor Dai Wenyan, the director of the Breast Cancer Center, expressed that “It’s a great honor to be elected the vice-chairman, and I think my election fully affirms the medical level of our hospital. In the future, we will accelerate echelon construction of breast cancer as well as the talent cultivation, also we wish to make more progress in breast cancer rehabilitation. With the guidance of the association, support of our hospital leaders and joint effort of all the medical staffs, I think we will make more contribution to breast cancer treatment and bring more benefits to breast cancer patients.”

*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
