Cancer Patients from Many Countries Climbed up the Canton Tower together, Attempted to Create a New Guinness World Record

“I love Guangzhou, I love everything here.” On October 15th, Philippine breast cancer patient Elie and other cancer patients from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippine and other countries climbed up the Canton Tower which has the highest lateral ferris wheel, and attempted to create a new Guinness world Record. Elie was so happy that she even kissed her husband at the top of the Canton Tower.

Elie is a 50 years old cancer patient. She was diagnosed with left breast cancer in Philippine local hospital in October 2012. With the company of her husband, Elie came to Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou to take treatments in November. After taking radical mastectomy and interventional therapy, Elie’s is in a good condition and she is healthy now. After diagnosing with breast cancer, Elie did not despair, she still loves life and the love to her husband is the power that supports her to fight against cancer. She is one of the Anti-cancer Star of 2015 of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. On October 15th, she hung out with other patients and showed a sweet kiss with her husband at the top of the Canton Tower.

Most of patients that along with Elie that day are middle or advanced patients of rectal cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer and esophageal cancer. Most of them are in good condition after taking treatments in Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. They are selected to be the Anticancer Star of 2015 due to their optimism and courage. On October 15th, they got out of the ward and took off their hospital dress, climbed up the highest tower of China to show their anticancer confidence and courage.

Malaysian esophageal cancer patient YONG AH SANG, 73 years old, is in a good condition now after taking treatments in Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. Sitting inside the ferris wheel, he was so excited that he even sang a song of Teresa Teng, named Tian Mimi. He said that his habit of singing and travel never changed. He forgets the fact that he is a cancer patient when he sings and travels. He showed us his muscle and said: “I am still very strong!”

Ms. Wang Youhua, the new director of Non-border Cancer Volunteer Association of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, has been selected to be the Anticancer Star for several times. She was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago; she always keeps healthy and shares her anticancer experience to encourage other patients. She told us:”I feel delighted and relaxed during this travel. I have no discomforts and I do not take myself as a cancer patient. I love this kind of travel, together with so many cancer patient friends, we climb up the highest ferris wheel and look down, everything is so small, we do not fear of cancer and I think I defeat it.”

Anticancer Stars at the top of Canton Tower

It’s known that the Canton Tower is the highest tower of China, except for visiting the famous scenes in Guangzhou, this group of cancer patients also wants to create a new Guinness world Record-- the largest amount of multinational cancer patients climb up the highest lateral ferris wheel together. This travel is attempted to attract more people’s attention to know, prevent and treat cancer, so as to reduce the harm to human health.

*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak.
