They also had some discussions about cancer.
Director Pan was giving a lecture.
At present, people are commonly scared of cancer. Some cancer patients hold that cancer equals to death, so they give up treatment. Actually, through treatment, many patients’ tumors have shrunk and disappeared, and they have improved life and prolonged life span. In order to help more patients and their families know more about cancer treatment, director of oncology Pan Luo gave a lecture about interventional therapy for cancer.
Director Pan introduced interventional therapy in detail including category, method, operational process etc. He indicated that interventional therapy was widely used in cancer diagnosis and treatment, having advantages of small trauma, fast recovery, good effect, etc. It just needs a 1-2 millimeter incision on the skin, then chemotherapeutic drugs are injected into the tumor by a special tube, and the drug concentration is increased by 2-8 times. And then, the embolization therapy is conducted. The blood vessels that supply for the tumor are obstructed to make the tumor lose blood supply and die.
Laryngeal cancer patient PRASIT SUMONTA was asking questions.
And then, patients and their families interacted actively with director Pan. And he patiently answered the audiences’ questions one by one. Among them, a laryngeal cancer patient PRASIT SUMONTA who was awarded “anticancer warrior” asked about comprehensive treatment. Director Pan said that according to each patient’s condition, professional medical team would make the most suitable treatment plan for the patient and use multidisciplinary integrated treatment to improve therapeutic effect. During the free chat time, patients and their families ate fruit, greeted and communicated with each other. Additionally, they put forward valuable opinions and suggestions to the hospital.
Besides, patients and their families played a game. Thai cancer patients sang Chinese and Thai song, and learned Chinese tongue twister, throwing themselves into the funny game. At last, six people were elected to become “Non-border Tumor Prevention and Treatment Volunteers” of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. And they were awarded the honorary credentials and scorecards which were used for exchanging medical service items. The six volunteers showed their willingness to spread knowledge of cancer treatment, so as to help more patients find the right treatment.

*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
