Delegation from Internal Medicine Association of Hanoi, Vietnam Visited Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou

On June 19, 2015, ten visitors from Hanoi Internal Medicine Association, including President of Vietnam Internal Medicine Association GS.TS.Nguyễn KhánhTrạch, Vice-president of Medical Association of Hanoi Health Department Ms BSCKII.BùiThịHiệp, President of Hanoi Internal Medicine Association PGS.TS.Tô Văn Hải etc, visited Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou and learned about the anticancer technologies and medical services in detail.

In the morning of June 19, Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou General Manager Lin Shaohua, President Wang Huaizhong, Vice-president Chen Bing and Director Sang Li warmly welcomed the group in the meeting room on the ninth floor of the hospital. As representative of the hospital, Manager Lin gave his warm welcome to the delegation. He said that Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, specializing in oncotherapy with 18 advanced cancer therapy technologies such as Minimally Invasive Therapy, Cryotherapy, Particle Knife etc, has been accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International) which represents the highest international medical standard. He hoped that both sides could deepen the cooperative relation, learn from each other, help and improve each other, accelerate the progress of medical and health work, and bring hope to more cancer patients for prolonging their lives. Meanwhile, President of Hanoi Internal Medicine Association PGS.TS.Tô Văn Hải represented their group to give a speech. He firstly expressed their thanks to all the staff of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou for the warm welcome, and then introduced Hanoi Internal Medicine Association briefly. He believed that it would provide a long-term cooperation chance for each other after the collaboration of Hanoi Office of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou and Hanoi Internal Medicine Association. He also hoped that this relation and platform could deepen the mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations, and bring benefits to more Vietnamese cancer patients.

Whereafter, led by Vice-president Chen Bing, the delegation visited the VIP wards, the nutritious diet house, the International Service Center, the diagnosis and treatment departments and other service facilities. When the members of the visiting group knowing that the hospital had a special nutritious diet house for patients, and the nutritionists would make a reasonable diet according to the patient’s taste and condition, they admired that unceasingly. They even visited a nasopharyngeal cancer patient from Vietnam in the cancer ward on the third floor. According to the patient’s attending doctor, after treating by Interventional Therapy, Particle Knife and other comprehensive therapies, he was in a stable condition basically with improvement of appetite and sleep. The visitors gave their blessings to the patient, and hoped he would get better soon.

Members of Vietnam Internal Medicine Association visited Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou

In order to give the visitors a more visualized understanding of the advanced anticancer technologies, the hospital arranged live broadcasts of Interventional Therapy, Particle Knife and Cryotherapy for them. A 60-year-old liver cancer patient was a leading role in the live broadcast of Interventional Therapy. Dr. Zha, an interventionalist in oncology of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, explained the principle of the Interventional Therapy technology simultaneously. He said that, it just needed a 1-2 millimeter incision on the skin, then medicines were injected into the tumor by a special tube, and the drug concentration was increased by 2-8 times. Meanwhile, the embolization therapy was conducted, in other words, the blood vessel that supplied for the tumor was obstructed to make the tumor lose blood supply and die.

In the afternoon, the live broadcasts of Particle Knife and Cryotherapy were shown to them. The members of Hanoi Internal Medicine association were interested in the Cryosurgery Therapy. They focused on the process of Cryosurgery Therapy, indication, preparation before and after the therapy etc, and asked the Director Peng Xiaochi questions on the spot. Director Peng gave detailed explanation and answered them one by one. Both sides of them made a discussion on technologies of Minimally Invasive Therapy, which showed great atmosphere for academic exchange.

Vice-president Chen Bing awarded for the anticancer warrior DJONG NYAM SANG

Latter, the delegation of Vietnam attended the monthly “anticancer warriors” ceremony of June in Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou. When they saw NGHIEM THI THU, a Vietnamese lung cancer patient whose condition was basically stable, they highly praised the Minimally Invasive technology of the hospital. After the ceremony, they warmly took photos with patients and wished them get rid of the disease soon.

It was reported that since the establishment of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, the hospital has been carrying on a mission to “provide the most convenient and most intimate medical services with high quality for people’s health”. In Southeast Asian area, the hospital has set up over a dozen offices. In March, 2015, the Hanoi office of the hospital joined hands with the Internal Medicine Association formally. What’s more, this visit deepened the understanding of the hospital for Hanoi Internal Medicine Association, and provided a great chance for mutually medical cooperation and academic exchange, additionally brought good news for more cancer patients.

*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
