Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Lymphoma is one of the top ten common cancers in the Philippines, among Filipino adults, incidence rate rises steeply starting age 50 among males and at age 55among females. Lymphoma is also called lymphatic cancer, it has two main categories:Hodgkin's lymphomas (HL) and Non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). About 90% of lymphomas are non-Hodgkin lymphomas.

Hodgkin's lymphoma occurs at any age, but is more common in young people (15 to 30 years old) and older, with more males than females. In terms of disease development, it has a certain regular pattern: For early-stage patients, the tumor usually occurs in lymph glands of the neck, and then gradually spread to the adjacent, infraorbital, thoracic, abdominal or distant lymph glands; finally spread to the bone marrow and other organs in advanced stage. Early and late-stage Hodgkin's lymphoma patient often responds very well to the treatment, especially in early stage, 80% or more can be treated.

A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
